TO20 coil spring seat question

I'm just starting to work on my Grandpa's '49 TO20. It has this seat which I've never seen in any other pictures. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Is it a custom part or
perhaps something from another tractor? Honestly, it isn't very comfortable but I'll keep it if it is an original Ferguson part. It has quite a few pieces and even some ball
bearings. Quite a piece of work for just a seat.

It's a Knoedler seat (AKA the short mans seat). I also have one on one of my fords. There is a nice how to rebuild on the other tractor site. Most guy wedge them up with wood to keep them level. They always seem to slope down making them uncomfortable.

Thanks for the quick replies. That's exactly what I wanted to find out.
Actually, Grandpa was a little on the short side. So maybe that's why he got this seat.
I never realized how complex this seat was till I started taking things apart.
That spring frame always had stuff hanging from it. It's also where little kids
sat when taking rides!

It was an extra that could be purchased anytime and was a better seat than the original pan seat. I have a couple with the seat and I like it for the extra spring.
