gear shift starter?

I know of a situation were a GEAR SAHIFT STARTER CONNECTION was bypassed. The owner cranked the engine over to check the rotation of the DISTRIBUTOR. The tractor was in REVERSE and the THREE point ARMS punched a hole in his TRUCKS RADIATOR. It could have been a persons LIFE taken just as easy!

Food for thought.

Yes, but a bad idea. There's no more money, slightly more time, to do it right. Otherwise, yeah running over yourself ain't fun.

The others comments are correct, you can by pass it but it was put on that way at the factory to protect the operator and others standing around the tractor. It is your call. Make sure you have plenty of insurance if you do by pass it.

Couldn't agree more .
Read this account of an unfortunate incident before bypassing anything .

I would try to keep that shifter starter circuit working, if at all possible.

I was almost ran over by a AC tractor that would start in gear,

the shifter starter circuit was designed to keep that from happening.

Just my two cents"

Good decision Scott , of course the stick start won't stop every starter related accident .

Here is another horror story , it goes like this , Cold winter ,cold cinder block barn with earth floor, battery flat , tractor left in gear! , farmer goes to front of tractor between it and the cinder block wall at the rear of the barn to use the crank handle, tractor starts, lurches forward and pins farmer to wall. With no way to turn off the tractor or release himself the farmer dies . He is found later , much later , the Fergie has continued to push against the back wall spinning the wheels and digging them in until the diff housing rests on the earth. It finally stops when out of petrol .
This is a personal anecdote from a farmer , he was a young boy who with his father found the poor unfortunate . I suppose the farmer was a careful man , he just thought it would never happen to him
