 The machine shop tried to push out some of the push rod tubes in my engine head (ferguson to30).
He thought there might be o rings sealing the tubes.
some of the tubes are ruined.
Is there any way to fix or replace the bent tubes?

Could You post a picture and point out a push rod tube? They usually fall into a big empty hole if you aren't careful.
Now, if you are talking about valve stem guides? Yeah they usually come out in pieces if not a powder, needing an air chisel or more. But a good machinist can easily replace them without problems or much money. No o rings around them either.
Yeah you might be better off with a mechanic who atleast knows the names of the do dads and thingamajigs...

Tony has it right. There are no push rod tubes. The valve guides have to be pressed in...which is no big deal at all and the guides are only a couple dollars each...but if your machine shop doesn't know this...you need to find another shop.

Yes, there are tubes. They're on the spark plug side, where the pushrods pass through the head. I've never tried to replace one, but it should be possible. Doubt that you could buy a new one, probably have to get the old one out, do some measuring and make one. Suspect they press in.

Wouldn't those tubes that the push rods are in be "push rod tubes"? :)

To you and me they look like "push rod tubes" but being they are not readily removable they
maybe should be referred to as "push rod passages".

Exactly...when I say pushrod tubes I mean like what VW's and stuff have. Removable and replaceable pushrod tubes. Pushrod tubes that are meant to be replaced. Those in the continentals are not ever meant to be pressed out or replaced. Why would you? Ive never in all my years heard of someone trying to remove those. There is no need to. The only thing made to be pressable and replaceable is the valve guides.

Besides you could probably buy another head cheaper than you could pay a machine shop to press those out and make new ones and press them in.

Tubes, Passages, Tomato, To-Mah-To...

They sure don't need to come out, whatever they are. The Parts Book doesn't show them as a separate part, and the Shop Manual doesn't mention them at all. (Gave me an excuse to post a couple of photo of my cylinder head!)

The dealer shop manual does mention "push rod holes." I found this by accident when looking for timing gear backlash.
Look at page 40 right hand center paragraph. We need an agreed upon name don't you think? You choose. :wink

3/8 galv. pipe is a press fit.not sure if it will seal,or leek oil
I will tell after re build is complete and tested.

Are you intending to use plumbing pipe as a valve guide seal? stop the job.
Are you intending to shrink the holes around the push rods? OK, that is what's called an 'oil gallery' and the sooner oil dribbles down from the head back into the pan the better. Whatever you are doing, stop.
Bring this poor thing to a proper machinist, or the first time it starts, it will never run again.
