That one is a high arch. The one I have is a standard. They only made them two years 1956 and 1957. This was in the time when Massey Harris and Ferguson were joining They didn't know for sure what colors they wanted to paint the tractors, this color was used two years then they painted them red and grey . The Dealers were told to paint them red and gray when they were traded back in. Mine was red and grey also when I bought it.They made these in four models standard, high arch, tricycle and single front wheel.

The reason all were painted red was after the 58's came out Red they wouldn't sell with Bamboo paint. So the dealers had to paint trade in's like the MF so they could sell them. Some new ones were even painted in order to sell.

Great looking re-hab. This is my first login. I have an almost identical F-40 as your before shot. It too, was repainted red and re-named as a MF-50. I plan to refurbish as you have. A previous owner damaged the grill and the pieces above and below. I have found the left and right grills, along with the center pieces online. Does anybody have a source for the upper and lower caps? I cannot seem to find these anywhere.

Very nice, I have wanted one for years, but the lower model. I wonder, the front piece that holds the front axle, is that the same as a UK built MF 65 ? It looks very much alike, from the little we see when the tractors are assembled.
And I also wonder if the F40 had power steering as an option.

I too tend to call it a FE 40. No clue why, it just feel natural since the 35 was called FE 35.
Wish they had sold the 40 in Europe, but never heard about them in Norway.
