Hi Everyone,

The fuel shut off is a very difficult to turn, although it can be done with effort. Is there something that can be added to lubricate it? The part looks to be plastic, which in itself seems strange for the age of the tractor.

Thanks

David , a 1951 TEA would have left the factory with a brass shut off valve, FE 35s had a diecast one . The plastic ones were introduced with the later MF 35 . These are available as reproduction replacements .
The plastic ones do bind up , the thread is very fine and cross threads easily if the tap is over tightened or if grit gets in there . Otherwise if you must keep the one you have try disassembling it , clean the threads and put it back together with a small gob of softened bar soap as a lubricant .
