Sorry if this post shows up twice. I thought I had posted it this morning but now see no evidence of it.........
OK so I looked in the service manual about replacing this seal, and it told me to first remove a set screw (hex head I think) on the timing cover, so that I could then drive a pin out of the shaft from the inside side - it would emerge form the hole where the set screw goes. There is even a nice dark blurry picture of this.
Well my timing cover does not have this set screw. I cannot see how to remove the pin that would let the shaft come out so that I could replace the seal. There just doesn't seem to be a way....and, I can't get at it from the outboard end, as the lever that connects to the springs etc is welded to the shaft.
Please help if you can; I need to get the tractor back together and use it.
