Anyone know anything about a Detroit-Harvester Ferguson mowing machine--6A-EO-B20? One for sale local.
Don't know if complete. Has both tags. What's one worth???

IF... it works... I'll give ya a dollar...and a case of Shiner Blonde- or Molson Golden, your choice...
If it hitches up like that FEO 20 I paid 50 bucks for.... maybe a case of Shiner is paying too much...????

I have 2 mowers that are approximately the same as that, one of which has been part of this farm for about 60 years. They work reasonably well provided the cutterbar and sections are in good shape, the guards are adjusted to fit fairly tight against the sections and are not worn out, and the hold down clips actually hold the cutterbar down so you get the proper shear action. They work better if you have independent PTO and if you are cutting grass that is young so it isn't so tough but my father cut many acres of red clover for seed in conditions that weren't the most favorable with a Ferguson TO-30 or a Ford Jubilee.

Detroit harvester built the mowers for Ferguson and later Dearborn. That 6-AEO-B20 is the same mower as the Dearbon 14-1. The Dearborn 14-2 is the same as the 7-AEO-B20 just a 7ft cutter bar is the only difference. Make sure the tractor end of the pto shaft is there because it is worthless without it. Those mowers did not use a square pto shaft. It has an 1 1/8" splined shaft and the tractor end slides on the mower shaft and has a bolt that clamps it down on the tractor pto shaft. It also has to have the rack or teeth on the top link because that is how you set the cutting height. I have two of those mowers as well as the later Detroit Harvester built Dearborn 14-15 mowers. Ferguson never got a version of the 14-15 mower.

(quoted from post at 02:27:53 10/01/15) I recently got a 7A-EO A20 to refurbish. I notice that all the references above are B20. What is the difference

The guards was the difference. The A20 came with regular guards and the B20 came with heavier duty rock guards. But the machines themselves was identical.
