"6 7 3" = 6 July 1953. The tractor production date will be a couple of weeks later. At least that will give you the year.

As said you have a "1954 Ferguson TE A 20 with a Standard Motors Company 85mm gas engine." That tractor is 61 years old, if you do regular maintenance as needed it should go a lot longer. That should be 12 volts.

I would like to thank you all for your replys.

It is a 12 volt system an runs like a top. I have had to replace a few parts like the radiator an starter an generator but this is expected since it is 61 yrs old.

When i bought it 4 yrs ago i was told it was a 1946 so that was wrong an that i am 3rd owner.

I have 10 achers an maybe half has timber an other half i use this tractor to mow off once a year.
lived on farm most of my life an had several tractors but this one has grown on me kinda like having a new puppy. I like it a lot.
Again thank you all this is a great site an i realize now how i need to invest in a manual for this tractor.

One of the best , and probably most effective things you can do to improve engine power is to dismantle the air cleaner .
I have seen them washed in petrol and kerosene for weeks and then opened up to find them still full of grit and sludge .
It is easy to do , there are three or four spot welds holding on a retainer , drill these out , remove the mesh roll and clean properly . Replace the spot welds with pop rivets afterwards . Sometimes the mesh is really fragmented , it can be substituted with coarse stainless steel pot scouring wool.
