TO30 hydraulic pump valve chamber, O-ring vs gasket

The pump on my TO30 is shrapnel. Apparently the pump doesn't work when half frozen in a 60 year old oil, water and crud slushy.... Go figure.

Anyway, the original valve chambers have the O-ring seal but the replacements all appear to have the gasket.
I assume the O-ring is better yes?

Does anyone sell this. Does it matter.

All TO-20's,TE-20's and some TEA-20's used the gasket. The Ford N series used the same gasket. The oring probably is better...but look how many hundreds of thousands are runnung with the paper gasket and have no problems. If you are dead set on using oring you can always take the new valve chambers to a machine shop and have them machined for the orings. Personally I would just use the gasket.

Ok, I got the aftermarket valve chambers and everything went together fine but the pump will not fit back in the tractor. Is there something I'm doing wrong....it seems too wide???

I just had the same thing happen to me when I rebuilt a pump for a Ford 8N. I had to grind some material off the case bolt hole ears to get it to fit back in. The replacement chamber covers are thicker than the originals hence the pump won't go up..... Tip, put a rag or aluminum foil in the case above the area you have to grind to make sure grinding material isn't shot up into the case at which point you will have to re-clean the case again.
