TO35 Lube for front axle bearing

the front axle bearing on my TO35 makes a noise,
I replaced the bearing a few years ago,

it was my understanding not to put any type oil lube on this bearing.

it was to be lubed with graphite,

I have tried spray graphite and powder graphite, but in a while it still makes a noise.

I do jack the front of the tractor up so lube goes to the contact area of the bearing

any suggestions for another better lube material is appreciated.

I have tried spray silicone, but again it does not last long.

in this dry time there is more dust and dirt in the air and I have washed the radiator out a few times, so some water has flowed down onto the bearing, this could be causing bearing noise problem.

maybe I do not need to wash radiator out, just blow it out???????

any suggestions are welcome.

Front axle bearing. If this is the bearing inside the hub, it should have been packed with wheel bearing grease. If this is the spindle bearing it should be lubed when you lube the front spindles and should have a felt seal at the bottom to keep the dirt out.
If this is the front axle "bushing" yes, graphite is the only acceptable lube to be used on it.
Is it possible you have worn through the bushing and into the steel pin?
Washing out a radiator? Yes, you are probably running dirt into the bushing and washing out the lube. wash it, dry it, lube it.

molybdenum disulfide

front axle "bushing"

I will again jack up the front axle so the contact points of the bushing would be loose,

then try blowing the area out with air, to clean any dirt than might on the bushing contact surface.

then reapplying the graphite, using spray graphite material seems to work better than powdered graphite as I can not get the powdered graphite as far into the bushing surface.

graphite is an old school dry lube, was hoping there had been some type new material that might last longer and work better.

Does anyone know if the new tractors still use this type lube for the front axle bushings????

mechanic friend said at this stage in the tractors life 1957 model, he would just use heavy duty grease and let it be.

I did find some reference to this material: molybdenum disulfide as a dry lube material
thougt I might look for it.

Thanks for your input,

this is the product I bought to lube the TO35 axle pivot bearing. we will see how it works, hope it works longer than graphite.

Schaeffe's
#200S Silver Streak® Special Multi-Lube,

Napa dude said it was for tractor trailer 5th wheel lube and other heavy open gear lube. Places that you did not want the lube slinging off and no dust/dirt collecting.

will see how it works.

Moly-B? Black, ugly and sticky. Even water attracts dirt. I would still be looking at the front bushing for odd wear.
Besides, if it is worn, you get to take it apart...
