TO20 starter rocker

Getting a little deeper into the starter problem that thus tractor had when I bought it. Seems it was wired wrong after having a starter solenoid put on it. I would like to put it back to how the factory had it. So I pulled the starter switch out to check it and I found that the rocker to engage the starter wasn't on the switch (which did test bad). I'm guessing the guy I bought it from dropped it into the trans. Has anyone ran it this before? I'm trying to fish it out with a magnetic stick. If that doesn't work can I pull the shifter to fet it or does the tractor need to be split?

There should be an access plate at the bottom of the bell housing you can remove. If the rocker fell down, you should be able to find it after you remove the plate.

Are you sure the rocker isn"t attached to the rod?

All I know right now is it wasn't attached to the starter switch. The service manual said to wire the rocker up so it doesn't fall. I don't know if it's still attached to the shifter or not I'm guessing that's the rod you're talking about. My magnetic stick broke last time I used it so I'll be buying another one when I run to town later today so I can try that.

This is what the rocker looks like underneath. The rocker itself sits on top and the linkage is what has to be tied up. If the linkage is still in there it may be resting on the stuff that was removed for this picture (clutch shaft, brake shaft, throw-out bearing, etc.). The rocker should still be fastened to the switch mount so not finding it probably means you are getting a new one.

Looks to me like someone removed the assembly at some point. Guess I'll just fix the
wiring set up for the starter button till I have to split it, then I'll see what's needed to put
it back correctly. Thanks for the pointers I was guessing how it was setup but at least
now I have a direction to go in.
