Just bought a new aftermarket gas tank for the TO35 off this site. It don't fit!

The hood won't close, the tank is about 1/2" too tall in the front, and the underside of the tank is against the upper radiator neck and hose. I don't have the old tank to compare it to, it was replaced with a homemade one about 20 years ago.

Any ideas? I haven't looked at the hood pivot bolts, they might have some wear, but not 1/2"! The hood appears straight, not bent or sprung. Noticed the tank says for MF35, but supposed to fit TO35 also. Anyone else have this problem?

I don't know...
This is what it's supposed to fit. Need to check the part #.

Description: With sender hole. Comes Primered. Also comes with blanking plate kit S.42904 if you are not using the sending unit hole. For the following tractors with Continental engines: TO35, MF35, MF 135, 202 and 204.
Fuel Tank Part Number 189209M91-9

The numbers you gave is a Sparex number. It shows S42744 to be the right tank with sending unit hole and a bland S42904. Tank looks right. It is out of stock. This may be the reason you got your tank.

I bet you have a tank for and FE or standard motors model. They won't interchange with a ferguson. I once was sent a tach cable with the wrong pn.I can send a pic of the standard tank if that helps.
