after I finally got the tractor running and it ran very good I used it for about 1/2 an hour yesterday and when coming back from the garden it started cutting out. cut out, run. cut out run. etc. so we limped into the garage.

I had it running in the garage this morning and after a few minutes it would do the same thing. so after the third time and while it was running I whacked the side of the carb. with a rubber hammer. guess what? runs great again. for how long who knows.

it has a re-manned carb. on it.

I need some wisdom here fellas.

thanks again!!!

Sounds like the float inside the carb is hanging up. It has to drop down to let fuel in as you use it. Result: NO GAS = NO RUN!

nothing but a bit of grit or a rough spot on the float hinge . A quick clean and rub with steel wool or [u:599bfdd3a5]very[/u:599bfdd3a5] fine emery paper will soon sort it out . Happens a lot with newly cleaned or refurbished carburettors , hidden bits come out to play when you are not looking .

One of my Standard petrols has a major problem with gas flow resulting in a complete drain and strain. Once you take the line off the carb the stream is to weak to maintain rpm. Time for a bigger inline filter.
