Number four

So my friend Chris got convinced that Ferguson was the way to go, needing a smaller tractor to climb onto with bad knees. We found this on
Craigslist with the hay rake and multi blade as part of the deal. 1952 TO30 dropped a valve on number one and the owners nephew had all of
the parts to fix. So, 1000 bucks brought home a not running tractor and some of Harry Fergusons implements. I think I have spent too much
time on this site and the HF obsession has manifested. The hay rake will be up for sale soon and I will be looking for the cone on the blade.

Nice looking tractor Tom . The end cap on the blade can be hard to find . Depending on how authentic you want it to be you could try using the end cut from a small LPG camping gas bottle . From memory there is one style and size that is a perfect fit and almost indistinguishable from the original when fitted carefully .

Thanks I will have a look for one of those bottles. Still a lot of other work to do, the blade is frozen up and the locking mechanism is rusted
tight. Just another project.

To free up seized parts I use the solution mentioned many times on this site . Equal parts of acetone or thinners and automatic transmission fluid . Works brilliantly if left to soak for a few days .

I feel bad for your friend. I have good knee's, and 3 hours on my TO-30 and my left knee hurts for 2 days working the clutch. It's a heavy clutch, as are many of this era. My oliver is the same way. If you do a lot of shifting, it's fine during the work, but when I get off, it hurts like hell.

Aside from that, they're great machines. I work mine like a dog, and it starts up every time. Lots of power.
