hydraulic or differential dipstick measurement

When I got my tractor the stick was gone. Im cutting down a dipstick from a truck. I am needing the length for my TO35 ferguson. The
overall length and the length that goes in the housing. Thanks very much.

Another way so mark the stick, with tractor level remove the bottom bolt in the diff case side cover. When oil stops coming out the hole that's the low level stick mark. Replace the bolt and add one gallon, that's the full mark level. May be a bit over but OK, and with a loader was best to be over anyway.

Years ago I had a habit of catching that little dipstick on my boot when I got off the tractor TO35.

After losing the second one, I chained the third, to one of the adjacent bolts.

That was years ago, have never lost another dipstick!!!!!

I keep the transmission differential oil level at the mid to full mark with the lift arms in the down position.

Being 'over' has a disadvantage. Too much fluid can find its way thru the axle seals to the brake shoes. Not good for the clutch either.
