buying 2 MF35s

Hi all

Looked at 2 mf 35s ( 4cyl petrol) australian models.today for sale with a good selection of attachments.

MF 35 no1, under a shed, he says it does run ?? says it has low oil presure. Oil good in motor and rear end, no water in radiator, could rotate the engine a bit so probably not seized. Wep hole under housing good.

MF 35 no 2. sitting outside for long time. Looks like blown head gasket. Oil and sludge in radiator. no oil in sump, oil ok in rear end.

Weep hole was blocked, unblocked it and a little bit of water and some sludge came out.?? ( dead seal somewhere)

gearstick moves on both, 2 stage clutch seems to do the normal thing.

So recon both will need a engine rebuild kit put through them, or build one good one out of the 2, as the one outside could be stuffed.

Tyres are OK, they are mostly flat, so maybe just flat maybe stuffed. I recon $500 for outside on and $800 for the shed one.

From what i see the diesel 35 are worth more than the petrol 35 in australia.

Any thoughts welcome.

Unless you have a gambling habit that needs to be stroked or just want a challenge, I'd suggest you keep looking. Here in the US the rear tires
cost about $500 each. If the tractors were free they still might not be worth taking.

If all the tires need is tubes then 1000 for all. Seems most of my rebuilt 800 dollar to35 tractors will still take 3k to restore.

Go gut the piggy bank. As MN sez, just the 'tyres' are worth what you are paying. My 35 diesel project was a basket case... yea, in baskets and boxes and pails...I paid 600 US years ago, and the chassis was hollow, so easy to push on the trailer... surprisingly the seller only lost a half dozen nuts and bolts.
Yeah I didn't cure the smoke yet, but I will get on it again soon. It isn't needed to work, just part of the fergie collection straight royal flush... my gassers all work well enough.
You are in 23C territory, and that really helps heaps. It seems all these engines need to go is good compression, so both heads might/will have to come off, but I wouldn't shy away from a deal like this at all. If you got tools, a manual, and a mate with too many cold beers, nay bloody worries she'll be right!!!!

Oh don't say that 2 tractors!!! pcp is in Australia... a beer is over $5... a gallon of gas must be over 10... so fair go mate!!
Just thought of it, Bill Brox was kind enough to send me a dvd from the UK covering a rebuild of a 23C diesel. There must be copies for sale in Oz...

we have litres not gallons, we are paying $ aud1.40 per litres, so abut $5.60 a gallon. I remember when i bought a car and drove around the US back in the mid 90s, petrol was about $1.10 a gallon, i thought it was so cheap and covering distances in miles took a lot longer than in KMS, but it was a hell of a time.
