TO 20 working on electrical

Ok so i have a TO 20 that was sitting in a barn for about 12 years. All the wiring had been turned into mouse food. So i have replaced all plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points, condenser, and attempted to rewire to get running. SO i have the tractor running and she runs like a sewing machine.

What i am struggling with is the proper way to wire this. It has been converted to 12v. It has 2 pos wires coming from alternator. The key switch is not on this tractor. I have a single toggle switch that at this time i am not using. Mainly because i cobbled up the wiring to see if it even runs. So now i would like to wire it properly. I recently purchased new ammeter and oil pressure gauge from here. Oil gauge works great, i am having a hard time figuring out ammeter.

Any and all help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

go to fergusontractors dot org then look for fena. Go to resources and electrical diagrams

TO30 12 volt shows negative ground with generator. It is negative ground diagram which you will need with an alternator. Alternator must be negative ground. There is another diagram showing Delco alternator connections.

Assuming you have a Delco alternator. Large output wire goes to one side of ammeter, other side of ammeter to large battery cable at starter solenoid/switch. Ignition and light switches get power from alternator side of the ammeter.

Connect ammeter, and with engine not running and ignition and/or lights on if ammeter goes negative it is correct. If ammeter goes positive reverse the ammeter connections.

With 12 volts you will need either a direct 12 volt coil (no external resistor required) such as NAPA IC14SB or a resistor between switch and coil.

With negative ground, the -- post on coil goes to side of distributoer
