TO-30 Fuel Line Repairs

I buggered up the threads on the male fitting that goes into the carb strainer. I'm going to see in a brake shop will make me a new line with the flared fittings. If not, can I cut the line and add a new male fitting and splice the line back together with some type of tubing and small hose clamps? I was so close to having all done.

Go to the auto supply, buy a steel brake line close to the right length. It will have the ends already flared, nuts in place. The line is soft, easily formed, just take your time and it won't kink. Route it as far from the exhaust as you can.
