TO-20 not starting after hibernation

Tractor had not run in 5 months, started and ran for about 10 seconds, shutdown and has not started since. 12v conversion that has been
reliable for 20 years. Starter turns over with spark to each plug. Fresh fuel in carb, start fluid no effect. Replaced plugs, wires, points,
condensor, resistor. Boosted with 50 amps, pulled down gravel drive with a truck nothing... Do have suction at the carb inlet during crank.
Thanks in advance.

When the 12 volt conversion was done, was the original stick shift start function retained or was a solenoid installed with a ballast resistor?

Try pulling the drain plug on the carb, catch what comes out, be sure there is adequate flow and look for water.

Any possibility it's flooding, as in fuel dripping out the air horn, the choke not opening, the air filter clogged?

Also check the spark timing. Could be the distributor was loose and spun, or the drive pin sheared on the distributor gear.

Fuel is ok in the carb, it will flood, I'm going to pull a plug to see if it's wet. I checked the timing (static), distributor is secure. Checked spark to each plug with a spark tester. The 12v conversion used a solenoid and ballast resistor. Considering pulling the tank and valve cover to check the valves. Might check compression too. Thanks for the responses.

Just something to check, if the solenoid is set up to bypass the ballast resistor when cranking, make sure the ballast resister hasn't died. You will get spark when cranking, but when you release the key it won't run if the ballast resistor is an open circuit.

Considering all was well before it was laid up stuck valves might be an issue . The certainly are with the Standard motors engines on TE20s .

After not running for a long time, the first thing I"d check is the points. It"s not uncommon for them to get corroded. Get a piece of paper from a brown paper bag an pull that through the closed points.
