to 20 rear end lube

I bought 90 weight mineral oil from NAPA, GL-1 for my old tractor, what my manual calls for.

As others have said, this conversation is never over.

Like asking who has the best looking girl friend.

Some use 15w40 diesel oil, it also works fine

I think the main thing is just to change the oil every few years, like changing the motor oil, to get the moisture and dirt out of the motor and transmission hydraulic system.

The deciding factor is where you live and when you use the tractor...

The 90 weight mineral oil is what the factory called for, but in cold weather the hydraulics go into slow motion.

The 15w40 is more forgiving of temperature change and has shown no problems as a substitute.

dewy here is something to keep you entertained for a while. Oh yes by the way this is in the archives of this great forum. Also you are asking about the rear end oil!!! Just to let you know the transmission hydraulics and rear end use the same oil. Enjoy!
