TO-30 Throttle Rod Camp Location

I've almost got it back together. Where does the throttle rod clamp fit on the rod? Is it near the firewall or farther toward the front of the tractor? What is it's function?. It should run like a new tractor: rebuilt head including all the valves, springs, seats, guides, etc. new muffler and tail pipe, changed oil
and filter, fresh antifreeze, and a new temp gauge. I'm way behind on my tillage, but should be ready to roll by Monday.

Larry, do you mean the clamp shown as #6 in this diagram? It should be far enough back to keep tension on the spring (#5), so that the cork friction disk (#4) keeps the throttle lever from moving on it's own.
There may be a worn spot on the throttle rod where the clamp was previously.
