What color to paint tractor

My 51 HF TO30 is painted green, like a JD but is this correct? It looks like original paint. If not what color would you paint it?

should be Ferguson Gray I would think,

but I am not one to ask: I have a 1957 TO35 that was painted Cream and gray from the factory, see colors on copy of original owners manual. I thought it looked like an old case tractor.

so I painted it red and gray, wish now I had not done that.
but, I am too lazy to paint it back after all these years.

You can use massey ferguson gray which is slightly darker and a bit grayer than original or check the archives for the paint numbers for
Ferguson gray which has a bit of blue in it.The TO30',s are all gray except for some black bits and pieces.

Definitely not green!!!

fireman click the link and there will be three different sections to help you get things sorted out for your almost all grey Ferguson. When you look at the color chart that is only the color not the quality of the color. You have to decide what quality of the paint you want. When you get to a paint store they will tell you the difference in the paint of their particular company and this can also determine how it is applied. We would like to see pictures when done and I am sure you would like to have some before pictures also.
Ferguson Paints

Tom, you picked right up on the fact that the picture on the old owners manual is cream and green. The manual is copyright 1956, but it came with my old tractor 1957 model.

Ferguson must have been buying their paint at Wal-Mart back in the mid fifty's and just bought what ever was on special that week as they painted their tractors a number of different colors between 1954 to 1958, then settled on red and gray.

My point was to suggest he paint the tractor back to as close to the original color as possible. I think it's proper and will hold the value of the tractor higher.

Do not do something dumb like I did and paint a cream colored tractor red. Sure wish I had not done that.

I found this online a while back

I have been using some of the Flint grey metallic. It is a gorgeous color.
My 1956 TO35 was apparently originally Bamboo Beige and Flint Grey Metallic. At some point years ago someone painted over the beige in MF Red. I am keeping the appropriate parts MF red rather than beige.

Your TO30 was all grey except for the rear wheel rims, which as replacements are now, were galvanized, or silver, aluminum paint, pick your poison.
I use Rustoleum smoke grey, but like me and Miner were thinking earlier this evening... they were probably originally surplus WW2 battleship grey... that stuff must have been almost free by the late 40's...
That looks like a solid tractor- where are you?
