Hey guys...I have a to-20 that ran beautifully when I parked it 2 years ago. I've got it sold as-is and decided to drag it out and get it running for the guy just because I want to get it running for him to show him how nice it is and to make it easy to load on his trailer. Now....went out and went through the motions to start it. The points aren't firing when they open and close but when I open and close them with a screwdriver they arc in other places with a huge strong blue spark. I also got them to arc near the actual breaker point tips too. I filed them good with a file and noticed that there is a big pit/crater right in the center of the breaker point pad on the Distributor side. That must've the problem. Thing is I don't have an extra set of points and the parts store probably doesn't either. He is coming in the morning.
I don't mind spending $10-20 on it but I don't know points part number. Secondly, if they don't have it I would rather have a temp get by fix just to get it running for now....if there is such.
I do have a ford 601 with a new set oif points. Are those the same points ?
