Hello Chaps.

Sorting out start mechansism. Pulled of the regulator, one terminal is stuffed, so i need to pull the regulator apart to service and fix it. Are these things servicable?

Pulled out the mechanism to the starter on top of the clutch bell housing and its is contacting, so guessing that its the regulator

If the regulator is stuffed can i replace with any 12v regulator?

First off, usually not stuffed, just grotty. Most often a previous owner wired it wrong. BTW, it has nothing to do with starting, just charging the battery.
Clean all the contacts well, the starter needs all the current it can get. The linkage has to be at the angle/position to give a good push to the button, so if the button is good, just clean everything you see.
You have a manual and a multi meter don't you??? Please don't ask what those are... bloody ozzies....
