TEA-20 Transmission Dipstick

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping somone can help me out here. I have a 1954 Ferguson TEA-20. It's all running fine and in great shape. I am however missing the dipstick for the transmission. It's supposed to fit into a port in a round inspection cover on the left side of the transmission.

I'm pretty sure I could find or make up a replacement, but I don't even know how long it's supposed to be or how far up the level markings should be from the tip.

Does anyone have a TEA-20 out there that they could maybe take a few measurements from or snap a picture up against a measuring tape, say from the point where it shoulders up to the insert tube...

Alternatively, if someone knows the right cross reference to some other model, or know where I could sourse one for this tractor, I.d really appreciate it.

My dipstick was missing the bell at the top to seal the dipstick from water and debris. I drained the oil a few weeks ago and out came about two gallons of water, not to mention some seriously contaminated oil. The bell was missing for years while it sat outside. I suggest you look closely at the fluid for water contamination.

You can buy one from this site for a Ford 9N or 8N.They will work. After all the 9N did have Ferguson hydraulics.

Thank you everyone for your responses. This has been very helpful. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find or make up a replacement dipstick now that I know What I'm looking for.

As for the contaminants in the oil, I've kept the hole plugged, but I plan to change all the fluids this spring as soon as the 2 feet of snow is gone, and I can get up to the cottage. I have to change out the PTO shaft so I'll have a good opportunity to see the condition of the oil. I just wanted to be sure I could refill and maintain it to the right level...

This is a great Forum! Thank you all for your help.
