The original subject was "Re: TO35 quadrant controls".

I have a question about the position and draft levers on my TO35. The hydraulics will not completely lower the implement. I have owned the tractor for a little over a year and it did not do this until I moved the draft lever. I had no reason, such as using a particular implement, to move it, I just did it to see how it worked. Now the implements, such as brush hog, finish mower etc., will not go all the way to the ground. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

have used mine for years on the old 1957 TO35

I normally keep the small lever in the center and just move it up or down a small amount to control the depth of the plow or cultivator.

the mower, I lock the stop on the large lever to control the operating height.

that is about all it's got.

my friends much newer MF also has a response lever so I assume it controls how fast the lift works up/down, do not really know what that is for as I have never used it.

when was the last time you changed the fluid in the transmission lift system?

I did mine two years ago and used GL-1 90 weight mineral oil from napa, but if I had to do it over again, I might just use 10w30 motor oil, it took about 8 gals. to change it out.

#####the GL-1 90 weight mineral oil does not flow well in the winter months###########

You've probably tried this already, but try moving the quadrant control up somewhat.
There is but one main hydraulic valve which controls the lift via input from two sources, the lift lever and the draft/quadrant lever which gets it's input from the top link. It's as simple as that. For whatever reason the control valve (which is mounted on the pump) is either not able to return to it's fully closed position or the fluid is not being allowed to drain completely.
