Need a little help , just acquired a TO 20 Ferguson a short time ago , needs some new wires put on ,all the old wires were gone,my question is does the wire from the switch go to the plus side of coil or the minus side, tractor is 6volt positive ground.

The wire from the coil to the distributor has the same sign as the battery ground. So the wire from the switch to the coil would go on the negative (-) terminal of the coil. The tractors came stock with positive groud.

Thanks Jerry,it appears that I have it hooked up correctly, but can not get any spark, put in new points and condenser, new 6volt coil still no luck any suggestions what else I can do,thanks.

You can run a wire from battery (hot cable)to coil (-). Your hot wiring it. If it runs it's a problem in your wiring. If not check coil or points. I have a short wire with alligator clips on each end to use for testing. Be sure it not in gear.

Do you have good power from the switch? If you have a voltmeter you should have a good 6 volts on the key side of the coil, not sure what the voltage is coming out. I had a similar problem and it was a bad key switch.
