The engine ran fine. Little hard to start the 6V starter. Then the starter bendix would not engage the flywheel. I replaced the starter. Same problem, replaced the solenoid.Same problem. I removed the starter and measured the distance from starter mounting surface to the near side of the flywheel teeth-2.5" and 3" to far side of the teeth. Both the old and new starter bendix will only travel exactly 2.5" max when voltage applied and not engage the flywheel teeth. Why did the flywheel move 1/4" away from the original position? It is solid on the crank shaft.
I must be going senile.
Thanks,
Ol' Jackson
