TO30 3 Point Lift Questions

Hey Everybody! I'm new to the Ferguson market, but I've ran lots of other tractors. I've got a '53 TO30 with a 3 point that doesn't stop. I can raise and lower it, but it doesn't stop depending on the position of the quadrant. The quadrant doesn't seem to be adjusted right either, but it's waaay forward of the 2 1/2 mark as per the book. I've looked through the service manual, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for, relating to the fork connections. I've got the top link spring adjusted properly. What should I look into? What does that fork attach to?

A TO30 has up, down, and neutral (or slowly falling, the speed of falling depending on how good the system is). The lift arms won't stay fixed a certain level. There are workarounds if you need your lift to do that. Ask and you'll get help. But the TO30 is designed for for draft control usage. If all is working properly, the plow can be dropped or lifted, but most importantly it would also adjust the depth of the plow according to the draft.

If you have the book it might describe loosening the bolts that hold the quadrant in place to adjust it. Once loose (but not removed) move the quadrant assembly front or back until the proper adjustment is obtained. Then tighten.

Thanks for the info Jeremy. I opened her up and found that the cross link that ties the quadrant fork to the valve was bent, explaining why it was so far out of adjustment. I think maybe the previous owner tried to remove the lift cover w/o unhooking it. I've since replaced it and it is working perfectly (as designed ;-) ). I've also added a keyhole plate onto the differential ears so that I can chain my mower to the right position. Mows great!
