Finish Mower for TO-20...

I'm looking for a 5-foot finish mower for my TO-20.

I don't have a local dealer - it will need to be shipped in.

I can get a King Kutter from Rural King, or a Caroni from Agri-Supply, for roughly the same $.

Agri-Supply also has "Ag-Mate", and Northern Tool has "Nor-Trac", for a lot less. (Probably too cheap.)

Woods, Land Pride and Rhino are more than I need, and out of my price range.

Does anybody have experience with any of the brands/sellers mentioned? Or any other ideas?

I've been keeping my eyes open for local sales/auctions, but no luck. (One will turn up as soon as I order!)

Hey, Del - thanks.
Yes, they're just starting to schedule farm auctions down this way, so I'll keep watching. (I'm not in a big hurry.)

I have a 5 ft. Agmate from Agri Supply and I
like it fine. Agri Supply has a store in VA so
I have to pay tax on it and it ships by motor
freight, so it ended up around $900 or a little
over by the time I got it, but it has been
good. I used it one season so far. You must
have a place for a tractor trailer to take
delivery. High grass will clump some on
discharge, but the mower seems good. It is
easy to hook up and seems well made and pretty
heavy steel. I believe it weighs 500+ lbs.,
which is as much as some bush hogs. I have an
old Caroni side discharge and this is
comparable, and maybe a little heavier.

Tom, I have used a 5 ft King Kutter behind a TE20
for the past 3 yrs, works great. I use 2nd gear @
1500 rpm mostly and find I use about the same
amount of gas as my 42 in riding mower but cut a
lot faster.
If you buy new, make sure you grease the spindles
good, they are usually shipped dry.
When cutting in tight spaces, disconnect PTO and
back in. Reconnect PTO in Neutral, let out clutch
to cut grass in place then engage gear to cut
going forward.
Hope this helps, Email is open if you have
questions.

I'll say like del, check your local Craigslist every day. Nearly everything I bought since discovering CL I got from CL.
I regret not buying a Caroni I 'thought' was a couple hundred too high, so someone else bought it as I was hemmin and hawin... I now know it had the quality I would have liked.

Thanks, guys - I'll keep watching for auctions and on Craigslist.

Nice to hear from you, Tony - hope all is well with you.

Thanks Tom. Not as well as I'd like, but at least it had the decency to melt by late afternoon....
