Sleeve ORings Question

I am rebuilding my TO 20 engine. I read somewhere in the archives that you should not use vaseline on the orings for lubrication. The manual says to use vaseline. Any recommendations on this. Thanks for all replies.

80 hours ago on the wife's '20 it got vaseline.
35 PSI oil pressure @idle warm or cold.
Replace the seals on the oil tube.

the reason is that those o rings can swell up due to using oil on them. you want to use something that wont affect the o ring. I have used brake fluid and liquid dish washing soap as the best choice.

My favorite is a good thin coating of a silicone lube such as dielectric grease. It will protect the o-ring and lubricate it as the metal expands and contracts much longer that most petro based lubes. Also the assembly is easier, because of the superior "slipperiness".
