Ferguson value?

I am looking at a ferguson. Owner does not know the model. They think it is a 51-54. From pictures it looks like. To20 or 30. Needs restored and currently does not run. They say it does but has been sitting for about a year. What would be. Good price for it?

Yeah. Not running is generally about three bucks
more than scrap. Scrap being $200 a ton and that
thing weighing in around 3,000 makes it worth
$300.
However the seller is quite sue that all it needs
is a "tune-up" or some such. TO-30 has an external
oil filter. A good price. Hmm. I once bought an 8N
with electrical issues. Brand new rear rubber,
decent paint and good sheet metal. I believe it
came home for $600, might have been 8, but I don't
believe so.
At the most I might go 7 on that '30 6 on a '20.
This is with a guarantee that the engine has no
funny noises and no smoke with a minimum of 15
pounds oil pressure with a warm idle speed of 400
RPM.
Didn't desire to guarantee it? Then I will make it
either 4 or 5 tops. Motor better at least turn by
hand/fanbelt. No turning? $303.

Bruce is right with $300--700. A TO30 will only bring tops $2500 after its restored. Look at Langus TE20 post above. That's being restored. Most people call being restored painted with cheap paint and it runs.--LOL

Thanks guys. I will paint it and use it. I am going to look at it this weekend and see how it goes.

Miner and Bruce gave you good answers. I'll only add that price for these tractors seems to be heavily influenced by location.

Here in my location (Delmarva Peninsula) prices of a running machine are a fair bit higher than they mentioned. Not saying I like it, but that's how it is. (At least for me, maybe I'm a bad shopper.)

A non-runner is always a risk. But if you live somewhere like I do that has higher running prices, it may well be worth more non-running in your area too.

I have no idea of prices in your area.

I'd check the oil for water, 30's have a rep for
cracked blocks, make sure the oil isn't new and anti
freeze in radiator.
