TE-20 Questions

getting going again on my TE-20 project and have a few questions, by the way I do have an operators manual and shop manual but there are kinda vague and the one valve isn't in either book. So on the valve can this be setup to run a one-way cyl? I would assume you pull the lever up it would supply pressure and put the lever down to push the button it would relieve pressure? probly would have to remove 3pt arms cause the would go up and down.
Next is the draft control spring the book says this turns so you can adjust it and mine is stuck so does the whole thing have to come apart to unstick it or is there a trick?
Third is the safety start. This one was setup with a button on the dash ever since dad bought it but the safety start switch is on it but you can't put the shifter in the S on the gear pattern. Is it possible something is broke or can you lock out this feature? I would like to fix this feature so incase the safety start switch is bad do they make new ones some place?
Sorry for being long winded but this project has been apart to long and would like my fergy back.

The knuckle on the end of the draught spring will unscrew but it is a difficult job most times . The thread is a normal right handed one but is very fine and locks up easily . Use lots of heat , then let it cool down , try loosening it when it is cold . You might need a few goes at it before it will let go . Too much force will break the other end under the lift cover so go softly .
There is a link from the shift to the start switch , this might be stuck or bent or the switch itself jammed . The switch comes out easily enough but make sure the link doesn't fall in , tie it with some soft wire . I would first loosen the mount bolts and then try the shift , might work . You can dismantle the switch and reverse the big washer inside , this is often burnt and pitted on one side , flipping it over will give it a new lease of life .New ones are available but don't seem to last as well .
Use a T bar to lock the lift arms when operating the hydraulic diverter , it should operate one or two cylinders easily .

If the TE is like the TO move the shifter to the right in neutral when it won't go anymore try lifting up on the shifter. It will only rise 1/8" at most. When the TO was built there was a small bump that had to be overcome in order to get it into the part so it would go into S or R. Most of these little bumps have been worn down over the years. Don't give up on this forum they want to help you to get your Ferguson working as it should.

for reverse its worn out don't have to lift up, for S I've tried lifting up, pushing down wiggling this way that way. I tried one that was on an auction once and it went real easy (up and in), that's what got me to thinking there might be a way to lock it out but I guess something is out of wack. No worrys I'm not gona give up. This was my first tractor so its really special to me. I've used this forum a lot and there's a lot of very knowledgable people on here.

So do you take out those three bolts and pull it out to heat it or just heat the cover above it?Forgive me but whats a T-bar? I googled it and didn't seem to come up with much that looked like a T. Does that lock them up or down or either?

Don't undo any bolts , apply the heat to the very end , the Knuckle with the horizontal hole in it with a flange that presses against the spring . It is this thing that unscrews if you are lucky and have patience .
A T bat locks the hydraulic lift arms in the upright position just before it reaches full travel , this allows the pressure to be rerouted through that hydraulic take off point just under your valve .

Shown here is one from a FE35 but a TE20 one does the same thing . It is also used in conjunction with a lift hook and arms to allow you to use it as an auto hitch and connect trailers without leaving the tractor .

a t bar simply a tool bar hooked into your 3pt arms with a bar up to your top link to keep your lift pump from shutting off.my te came with a trip loader and uses a diverter valve to raise the loader bucket.been this way for yrs.
