1948 Paint Code Help Please

After a lot of reading and research, I believe I have turned myself in a full circle. Getting ready to paint a 1948 Ferguson TE 20. All of the paint codes I can find seem to relate to the later TO 30's or so with the darker grey. I used the paint codes I found off of this sight with the Sherwin Williams code of 1337. I was thinking it would be a light grey like I remember it looking like on my great grandfathers farm. However, when I looked at the pain sample it was considerably darker than that. I see a Sherwin Williams paint code of 4030 for Ferguson light grey but I am told they cant produce that grey anymore? I would think the paint I would be looking for would be close to the color of the primer in the picture I attached. I have my local PPG dealer looking into it for me but he shows the exact same color as Sherwin Williams 1337 (too dark).
What am I missing? Shouldn't be this hard!
Any and all help is appreciated!

Click on the link below then click on the individual article you want: There are three different articles and I must tell you to look (read) all three of the different sections as they each have their own specific part to the Ferguson Tractors. Enjoy!

Langus I am guessing you realized you cannot go to a household Sherwin Williams store to get the correct paint for these tractors. You have to go to a Sherwin Williams Industrial store to get these. If you will look at that link I sent and you mentioned you have a PPG paint store you can take that PPG number to them and it will be the color you want. Then you have to decide how you want to paint your tractor and tell them which quality of paint. These numbers are only for the color not the quality. The higher the quality the higher the price. Keep the forum posted on the progress.

The original enamel paint those tractors were painted with faded very fast to a lighter shade than they were originally. In my effort to find the correct shade I wanted, I used the numbers found at FENA and crossed them over to BASF. Basically it crosses to two shades. You can see them at this link.

After a lot of research and effort, we decided on the Sherwin Williams "Ferguson TE 20 Grey" paint code 1337. In the pictures the lighting isn't the best. It is a little darker than what I thought it might turn out to be but I do like it. It isn't as dark as it looks in the pics due to lighting. I used the one step paint and am pretty happy with the results. Now to keep the progress moving. This has been a long project due to family health issues but now that it is actually looking like something, it sure makes you want to keep wrenching!
