Electronic Ignition

Hi, has anyone used or any information with the electronic ignition on a /53 TEA ? Good or bad change over ? thanks, Murray

I've never put one on a TEA, but have used several on other applications. Never had a problem!

Considering the quality and cost of points and condensers today, and the possibility the distributor bushing may be less than perfect, they are a very valuable problem solver.

Unless you're going for total originality, I recommend them. And it's nothing you can't undo later!

Just be sure to make your final decision about 6 volt or 12 and the polarity before ordering.

These are good , made for the TEA as well , the advantage is that you are buying an entire new distributor with new bushes and running parts . This negates the need to muck about installing an accessory ignition system within the old one . The original can then be kept on the shelf and replaced for full originality .

I put one on my f 40 last and works perfectly. There are some issues when/if you have to jump start the tractor so make sure you check instructions, I remember reading something about it.

Put it on my 202, and as soon as it's time for new points etc on the TO35 its getting it too. There really is no reason not to do it and many good reasons to do it. You can still keep a set of points on hand in case you have trouble with it because it's nota huge job to switch it back over.

My 1953 TEA20 has Pertronix ignition and Pertronix high voltage coil:

I love it - greatest thing since the invention of beer!!! :)

But Charles is on the money - the new electronic distributor for the Ferguson TEA20 is only marginally more expensive than the Pertronix ignition and coil and [u:8227109c07]should[/u:8227109c07] give a further improvement in engine performance.

Points and condensers went out with horses and carts!!!
