Headlight replacement

Duggers

I have a burned out GE 4459 seal-beam headlight on my TO35 with aftermarket lights. It has a rubber ring around the light to hold it in place. Should I just order a similar replacement or can I move up to a halogen bulb at WalMart for 8 dollars or so?

Being aftermarket, not sure what's available. Is there a halogen replacement for a 4459?

Only drawback would be if it still has a generator. The 4459 lamps are 40w. The halogen lamps are much higher wattage, up around 100w. The generator can only make 120w to 140w. So 2 halogens at 100w each will be giving the generator a workout, will slowly drain the battery.

If it has an alternator halogen will work, might have to up the headlight fuse and wiring though.
