Any tips for removal of lift cover?
Seems to be solid. All bolts removed,
have tried a block of wood and a big
mallet with no joy. Can't get a chisel
in. Not sure what to try.

thanks

steve

Double check that you have all the bolts are out, just one will hold it fast. That should do it and a pry bar. Old gaskets can also hold like glue.

Make sure you have unhooked the control valve before you try to pick the lift cover up or move it.

there are 10 bolts around the parameter. Do not loosen the 4 in the middle they hold the hyro-piston.

If the hydo fork is disengaged from the control valve.

You also need to uncouple the draft control spring assembly from the top link rocker clevis.

If this is all done then it is down to elbow grease. Scribe the mating surface with a knife or awe to break any rust/dirt. And keep working it. there should be nothing else holding it down. (I assume you have no aux. hydro levers etc.)

Only thing I did not see listed is: you also have to disconnect the draft control spring from the top link rocker. just remove the pin and the rocker will rotate aft and out of the way. You do not remover the draft control spring/rod from the top cover.

Attach a chain or piece of flat bar to the two seat spring mounting bolts . Hitch a block and tackle to this bracket and apply some lift . Belt the sides of the cover with a nylon or wooden mallet ;within reason . The combination of the lift and impact should loosen it . The cover is really heavy so the chain block is not overkill at all , it will save you straining yourself and make the job much simpler .
