On my TO 20 I Installed new main and con rod bearings.Started engine ran for awhale then froze up. Cleaned crank journals put in new con rod bearings.Turned engine over w/o sparks plugs got 20Psi oil. Started again had pressure for a short time then zero. When oil pump was out I could slid the shaft out of the body it had a short pin locking the gear to the shaft. I think the shaft is coming out of the gear when engine is running. Has anyone any infomation that might help me?

The pump repair kits I used years ago had an allen screw that locked in between the gear and shaft end. You may just need a gear pump kit to repair it with new bushings, gears and shaft. The shaft should not pull out like that.

This is the fate of a sub standard pump in a TEA20 Ferguson . There was a batch of these supplied that caused no end of heartache to many restorers . Not only was the pin a source of failure but the clearances between body and vanes on new pumps far exceeded the maximum permissible wear cited in the official service manual .
