Re: TO20 Temp Gauge Sending Unit

I believe your going to find a plug in the housing
at the bottom of the upper radiator hose. It should
be on the left side of the engine. As for the size,
you get to pull it out and visit NAPA for a brass
adapter if needed. I ran an electrical temp gauge on
the wife's. That el cheapo capillary tube looks
cheap in comparrison.

The wife's TO-20 has a seperate panel for an
assortment of gauges. This panel is mounted under
the battery on the left side. The forward panel has
the water temp and oil pressure with a charging
light.

that thought crossed my mind, the gauges I bought came with a panel that I could mount anywhere, the original dash had the oil pressure and an ammeter, couple switches, I'll have to look up the diagram I think one is ignition, toggle type the other I believe lights, pull type, all were disconnected and the wiring looked like somebody made an honest attempt but not really knowing what the system is made of, looked like something I'd do in a pinch without any diagrams or components to refer to.

there are one maybe 2 knockouts ( sort of ) that looked like indicator lights could go to, thought about using a charging light versus a ammeter, thou I'd rather have an ammeter, guess I'll cut a hole in the dash, if I can figure out how to install the sending unit, I read not all thermostat housings have the plug and I haven't had a chance to look at it mine is a 49 pretty early serial # we'll see I may need to tap or find a proper housing
