What are the thrust washer locator pins made of?

Steel or brass? What was left of the ones on my motor were brass, crushed and worn down to the the block face. The parts book gives dimensions (5/32" x 1/2") but doesn't mention the material.
This motor is kinda like Alice in Wonderland's rabbit hole. :?
Curiouser and curiouser. :D
Re the post about timing gears (http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/viewtopic.php?t=1182907), I looked all over the front of the block and didn't find any stamp.

Thank you. I have some laying around here somewhere. Now I gotta find some .030 main bearings and a thrust washer/shim kit for it. :)

This from the archives , might be an alternative.
If you try it let us know how it worked. Check holes in bearings carefully to be sure the line up.
