Mount a chipper?

Does anyone know if it is possible to mount a new pto driven 3 point mounted chipper on the back of a TO-30 and run it safely? just wonder if the old style pto system would be unsafe. Thanks.

I ran a Chinese chipper off the back end of a TE-20.
Make sure you have the PTO over run clutch. The '30 should have enough power to run the chipper. Spring green chips up better than fall brown. Bringing it up to speed can be done by slowly engaging and releaing the clutch until you get that 400 pound chipper flywheel spinning at speed. Stabalizer arms keep it straight behind the tractor.

Thanks Bruce. I do have an overrunning clutch installed for my bush hog that works well. So maybe now that is worth looking into if I can find one for a good price.

New is a good price. Ever see a over run clutch grenade? Neither have I. Definetly would not desire to see one explode within my proximity. Especially if standing around loading the machine.
You can find 'em at the local tractor store or fleabay. This site might also sell them. I am getting too old to chase around town anymore. If I can get it delivered to the front door that saves me at least an hour.
