but that has never stopped me before.

why are, at least on my old tractors, the valve stems on the inside of the rims? pain in the neck if you ask me.
thanks.

There is several different spacing for rims. You may be able to turn center around to get stem on outside rim. Some spacing will have centers on outside loops and others on inside. Depends on rim and what your spacing for. Wide or narrow and if your planting on different row spacing. Years ago some farmers planted on 36" or 38".This is why there was different settings. You may have to remove tire so it will have right direction. Hope this helps.

I think if you check you will find the Ford rims have loops and stems on same side. Ferguson will have loops on one side and stems on other side. Ferguson original rims had a rounded loop Ford had a square loop. I believe all the aftermarket rims have square loops. Why??????

Hi,

Now, my tractors are almost half around the globe, but here is how I think it is.
Standard Ferguson rim settings are not in the innermost position, but the next one.
And as someone else said, the Ferguson have the loops on one side, and the valve on the other side. It is also correct that the idea of having the rims on the inside is to prevent them from being so easily damaged.

Since the standard rim setting is as it is, it means that when the tractors left the factory, they had the valve on the inside, and therefore this is what most people are used to see. This is also the standard setting for using an original Ferguson plow, together With the front Wheels in the innermost position.
