I'm going to look at a Ferguson tractor today. It's a 1953 model, apparently a to - 30 model. I want it for use as a snow plow this winter in my driveway. I really know nothing about tractors, what are some of the things I should check out on this machine before I decide to buy? here's a link to the ad of it I saw

That isn't a Ferguson for sale. That is a Ford 8N with 9N rear wheels and axles. There is a Ferguson in the background of one of the pictures but what is listed for sale in that add is most definately a Ford. A pieced together Ford at that.

these links never work for me. I copy/paste into the search engine and I get all kinds of tractor related stuff but hardly ever what some one is actually talking about. what could I be doing wrong?

I usually just highlight the link then right click and choose open in new tab. hope that helps you out.

my right clicker does not have that option. tried some other ways but got everything but a tractor for sale.

it also has a leaky left axle seal, and no fenders. Without the fenders you probably will be covered with snow when you are plowing snow and the fenders do give a little protection from the wind, just my thoughts

Tractor for sale

I thought it might have been a 9N or 2N because of the rear wheels but then I saw the proof meter on the dash which didn't come along until the 8N. So it's either an 8N with 9N rear wheels or a 9N with an 8N dash...

Hope you spent a bit more time researching this
than a half day.
If all your doing is pushing snow then most any
machine should work in one way or another.
If you were looking for other purposes the best
thing I could tell you is find the machine you
believe will do the job and then go up one or two
sizes.
Or you can sit back and say "For a nickel more, I
coulda, shoulda, oughta..."

AOL That may explain it. I have not used AOL since the late 90's when they sent out the free get on line now CD's. still kind of gun shy of them!

tried "Mozilla" this morning with same result.

we have had AOL since 96 when we got our first computer. mostly works fine for us for what we use the internet for.

My money would be on an 8n. There's nothing I can
see that sez 9n/2n except for the the rear axles and
center disc. Sometimes you use what you have or what
you can get to get the tractor up and running and
back in the field.
