I am wondering if a TO35 should have a vented gas cap? I noticed on some suppliers web sites they spec a non vented cap for my tractor. If I remember correctly this tractor had a chrome cap on it before like this.

(quoted from post at 19:38:42 11/14/14) That one you gave a link to I feel is a vented cap at least from the source I checked.

I bought two of those style caps back in the summer and I put one of them on my TO-20 and it would vapor lock. Im not sure why because these caps should work. I bought mine from my local Massey dealer but they are aftermarket and its says they fit Ford,etc... but my tractor would run about 5 mins and die. Open the cap and you could hear the air rush in the tank. So I cut a new gasket for my old cap and reinstalled it and the tractor is fine. I still have one of those chrome caps still in the plastic....

If its is gravity feed has to be vented some how ether cap or tank. Otherwise you get vapor lock (no fuel getting to carb)
