Fe35 standard petrol Massey

I need rings for my 87mm gas engine and see where the 135 massey and the ford dextra both use 87mm. Anyone know if these will fit my engine?

when I was a kid, back in the early 20th century.. parts desk guys had these 'cross reference' books. My bet is all will be 'one size fits all' sets... ask the dimensions of each ring, height would be the most critical in my book... but then again... I am a butcher...

Reading it, it sounds like a stupid question, "will a 87mm piston fit and 87mm engine."Wish YT would supply just the rings. Guess the best thing is to order one set, check the ring gap and then order the other 3.

Hello Mr. 2Tractors.

I can not say for the Fordson Dexta with 87 mm piston. The only connection between the Dexta and a MF I know about is for the diesel engine, the Dexta piston ring should be the same as the MF 65 With 192 engine.

When it comes to your tractor, with 87 mm piston ring, the FE 35 uses the Standard 87 mm engine, and the MF 135 with petrol engine also uses the Standard 87 mm engine, and as far as I know they had the same piston rings.
Now, there is a big but in this. Today many parts vendors deliver rings, but not as a replacement part for the tractor, but for the piston they offer for that tractor. I think both Bepco and Vapormatic has been known to have rings that does not fit the original piston, but only their own pistons. When it comes to my experience with Sparex, their rings fit the original pistons, and they state that their ring number S.41615 both fits the FE 35 and the MF 135.

I hope helps some.

Well said and exactly what I needed to know. With both having the same p/n is assuring. Thanks so much Bill.

Glad to be of help.

When it comes to all the different vendors, you have to check who has rings that fits the original pistons, and I am not saying Sparex is the best, far from saying that. Just that they have the same part number for both tractors in this case.
When it comes to Bepco and Vapormatic, I have no idea, they might have the right rings too, just that I don't know either or. Just that in some cases people have had trouble with rings for 80 mm rings for the Standard engines some years ago.

I just re-read my own pos and thought to myself that maybe I had been too negative to non-Sparex, and that was not my intention. Just wanted people to be aware to check out things before they buy them.

Bill Brox!!!!! Now there's a blast from the past! Listen to him 2 tractors... as the grasshopper listens to the ninja...
Did you know about the TEA-20 / Canadian 20-85 I rebuilt earlier this year? 2 tractors and his FE inspired me to pull a rabbit out of a hat... and pulled a nerve in my arm that didn't heal yet...

Yesterday morning I traded out a flat for a rollable rear tire and plan to roll her(fe) into the shop and begin rebuild. #4 is zero compression, pics coming.
