In Case Anyone Was Wondering...

if it's possible to cross-thread the fuel line fitting into the connection in the body of the sediment bowl, causing it to leak, AND boogering up the threads on both the fuel line and sediment bowl in the process: yes, yes, it is.

I'll see if my local REAL hardware store can clean up the threads in the sediment bowl - they've helped me out in the past.

If not, I'm off to the farm supply store for a new sediment bowl.

you would not be the first to do this,

how would you like to have that job at the factory, attaching the fuel lines to tractors all day long.

but we might get better at it, if we did it a million times.

good luck

I messed up the threads on the large fuel adj needle on the carb (TO 35) that was years ago and I got just enough of it to hold that its been running all these years, but someday I will have to rebuild it and who knows what will happen then, new carbs are expensive.

Is there a "new and improved" fuel line that will work, instead of the brake line, that's easier to work with?

Slender soft copper line is great for the purpose, it is almost indistinguishable from the original , easy to work with and bend into tight curves . Available from air conditioning engineer's supplies . A wide range of olives , unions and flare connections are also made .

Here is some brake line that comes in a coil and you can bend it to what you need. If you have a garage that does brake repair maybe you can get a piece the length you need and not have to buy a whole coil.
