I need help in locating a 1/2 inch copper washer for the oil pan plug...or can I just use old shoe leather like what was in there, LOL
Also, I removed the steering wheel, cleaned and repacked the top bearing, drilled and tapped for a greese zerk. Are these wheels put on with lock tight...had to heat it with the torch to get it loose. Thank you for any comments and help. (I have the short block back in the tractor now)

The copper washer shouldn't be too hard to locate. Look in the "Help" rack display at the auto supply. A hardware store might also have them.

No locktite on the steering wheel. If anything, some teflon tape, grease, antisieze, to keep it from rusting in place.

Red fiber washers used in plumbing for tap bodies are the right size and work very well . They are cheap and readily available so you can renew them with each oil change .

All good replys, I will check these out, thanks.
The spring loaded seal is still intact and in very good shape, Thank you for the heads up on this bearing needing to be greesed and the instillation of the zerk in this area.

Even better is a drainplug washer with rubber seal inside so it doesn't have to be tightened so tight.

'Most any auto parts store will have them in a 1/2" size.

Thanks guys, I've picked up 4 of them today. Funny about this is, I've been in oand out of the parts place for over 40 years and never noticed their swivel display of oil pan washers...sometimes the simplest things....

those stands disappeared from local hardware stores hereabouts years ago. the price of living in yuppieville.
