this web site is a great place to check out before taking parts out of a Ferguson. http://fergusontractors.org/fena/wp-content/uploads/Lift-Arms-Stuck-in-Up-Position.pdf Keep this address so you can look up answers before you start pulling parts out.

You need to find another mechanic because the arms not lowering isn't a pump problem. All you had to do is remove the hydraulic dipstick cover and reach in with a screwdriver and move the control valve because it is probably stuck. Tell him to get a Ferguson shop manual and properly diagnose it and adjust the draft control spring and control lever quadrant correctly.

Explain to me how. I ask for it,this guy has work on tractors for years , I don't work on tractor he not a shade tree mechanic when he started on it thecontrol arms were badly egg shape holes, but it still didn't fix it , I emalded. John in u k about what to do I gave the guy all the information I got

When you work on a Ferguson 3 point hydraulics pump (I imagine others also) you need to find out as much about it while it is still in the tractor. Hydraulics are not like generator or starter, you can't put it on the bench and diagnose it. The pump must be in the tractor so it can make the great amount of pressure it needs to operate which it can not on the bench. I do not believe anyone is scolding you for what you did. As long as you emailed John and your mechanic reads and does what John tells him your Fergy should be back running in good shape shortly. Keep us posted with a new post as a lot of us do not go back a week or two to see if someone said something else.

I think I need to explain we tried that , he found that the sleeve that the control valve was in was slding in out of housing and the valve wasn't releasuing pressure not know how to fix probaly leaves me with my back to the wall, if itnot fixed by next Wednesday. I bringing it home and use it as is

I didn't say he was a shadetree mechanic but it doesn't sound like he understands how the hydraulic system works. Basically in the bottom of the pump there are two holes and the control valve slides back and forth in there. When the valve slides forward it covers the front hole and the lift arms lower. When it slides backwards it covers the hole in the rear and the arms raise. When the control valve is in the middle it covers both holes and the arms do nothing. That's the simplified version of how it works. Now you see why I said its not a pump problem.

If the bushing was loose why would he even put it back together? You can still get a new bushing, they even used to offer them in .010 oversize. Worse case scenario any decent machine shop could make you a new one.

tractor fixed as of Wednesday afternoon, per John UK instructions busing locked in place, started out as egg shape control arms mounting hole to something plug up the hole in the control valve , THANKS all for tech support you gave
