You now got more tractors than me.. and so many irons in the fire... so I got to ask... that the 35? Then did you take out the diamond pad with the 2 bolts on both sides of the case? the bolts come out, then the plates have to come all the way out, they have a pin to hold the pump in place.

to-35.
pins are removed.
looks like a shaft is running through the pump. the pump will not slide forward or rearward.

That's them. get a bigger hammer. Or crow bar.
I wonder if the reason it's stuck is one of your problems? spline thing?
IIRC, it should wiggle back an inch and a half or so. is there a collar in the way? Yep crow bar time.
You're lucky Dan reconised that spring, I would have thrown it in the trash right away.

You need to move the PTO shift lever to the Ground position. This will slide the PTO coupler towards the differential and disengage it from the splines on the pumps shaft. In your picture, the coupler looks like it is engaged to the pump. Usually I have the side covers off when I am removing the pump so I just push the coupler towards the back of the tractor by hand. This should give you the clearance to move the pump towards the rear of the tractor which will disengage the splines of the shaft coming out of the transmission.
