anyone ever have "acupuncture" as a treatment for back pain?

I have had a pain at the top of my right rump for over a year now. two MRI's have not shown what could be a "corrective procedure", doctors words.
two months of physical therapy and two pain injections have not helped.
pain pills do help with the pain but I do not want to become a junkie.
I am about to try anything that's legal.
email is open.

thanks.

''Right rump'' are you a south paw? Most times it's the left on a right handed person . Sounds a lot like sciatica , something I lived with for a decade until a disc finally ruptured . Acupuncture did nothing for me but I would not discount it , it does work for some . Try to find a reputable practitioner not some twit that has a ' diploma ' that took all of two days ' intensive' to earn .

I think Tony would bring you Black Label if you ask. LOL I've been there and I know how you feel. Had a bad disk, trimmed it and so far OK. Go to another Dr. someone should know. Hope all goes well.

look for a certified one have had acupuncture for pain and it did work for me. Take Care!

Acupuncture works, dry needling is better..........but it hurts like a SOB when you're getting it done. The release of the knotted up muscle is instant with dry needling.

I blew out L-5,S-1 disc. PT was going nowhere with a lame duck HMO. I did chiro and accu. (I paid) Chiro made my joints make rude noises.
No improvement.
Come back for more...
No change and come back?
Whu fer?
Acu was impressive. I left in far greater pain than when I went in. It took 3 days to get down to the same level of pain as I was in, when I first went in to Accu.
Accu is very effective for muscle pains. if your disc is partially blown, your probabaly going to wind up with the infamous micrdiscectomy.
You can try...Floating in a pool with a ski vest on. Ski vest will keep you vertical in the water and the floatation might help your body relax and the disc to go back.
I thought of that after I got chopped on.
If you get chopped, Obey the doctors restrictions to the letter.
No bending, no twisting. This means when your bored sitting on the couch, you don't get to get up and go outside to throw the mutts frisbee.
Ask me HOW I know THAT one!

in Feb. of this year I blew a disc,L-4,L-5. in may had a "laminectomy"(sp) and that fixed it. no more pain from the disc.

but this pain has been dogging me way to long.

Get another quack. I also heard from a few ducks "That couldn't be it..."
Finally found one that swam with his head above water.
"Yep. There it is. Ever so slightly. Text book."
Most people mess up L-4,L-5. He was surprised to see mine at the bottom.
1/2 life from all the X-Rays is about 2096.
That was before the MRI.

Thinking on this some more... the duck that found it was a neurosergeon. The rest were orthopedic, if memory serves.
He was the first one to ask me if I ever drug my foot while in mid stride walking.
Another fun aspect.

I'd either go straight to a neurosurgeon, or find a good chiropracter that won't touch you until he's see MRI results. And then if he's really good, he still won't touch you, but will send you to a neruosurgeon.

Yes, people thought I needed Chinese acupuncture for my brain. I tried the doctor walking on my back in high heels while strapped to the gurney treatment, but that didn't last long... she got deported back to Thailand.

I ended up with a prescription for Canadian beer. It works wonders! Once I move west, I guess I will have to depend on dose eckeys or Modelo.... Without Carling even up here anymore, I guess that will have to do...

There is worse treatment than autoclaved burning needles with 10,000 years of experience, just see if he can find and keep hitting the right spot.

Well Steve.... If we don't here from you again, atleast we'll know why...

12oz tequila
12oz beer
12oz frozen limeade

mix all in pretty picture

"cowboy margarita"

serve over ice

goes down easy, packs a wallop. who needs needles....

In October 1996 I awoke to a wet bed, severe pain ........On January,15,1997 I under went a "laminectomy" Left side L4-L5 and that fixed it.... no more pain from the disc. POST SURGERY I DID follow all of the SURGEONS instructions. I was off work for four months and then never gain did I ever Jump down from the tail gate of a truck, never again did I ever lift anything greater than 20 lbs, I purchased a bed with as many springs as money can afford and at my height 5'11 I dropped my weight down to 200lbs, and purchased only 36" waist Jeans. I purchase shoes /boots with only ample leather support and thick impact type soles.I read ,and talked to so many different self proclaimed back know it all's until I decided to go the route I did. For those with back pain I dearly hope you find closer with some form of remedy.
Bob.....
